As you can see below, the consumption of oil in the UK has remained relatively constant. The production of oil has fluctuated over the years and will probably continue to do so going forward. While we may never again see the high production levels from the late nineties, production levels will not go down every year. New technology means higher production rates from current, new and even old fields. New areas are still being explored and developed.
